About Me.
I’m Erin Speedy; a strategic communicator, creative thinker, inspired designer and a proud mum.
I was raised in the hills of a sheep and beef farm, where I learned the value of hard work, straight talk, and backing your people.
Now based in Waiouru with my fiancé and our two young boys (equal parts chaos and cuddles), I bring that same grounded approach to every project I take on.
I help people and organisations shape their story, find their voice and identity, and communicate with impact.

Why Work With Me?
Whether you’re launching something new or sharpening what already exists, I work alongside you to create strategy and communications that feel like you.
Your brand identity and story should be authentic, emotional, and instantly recognisable.
It’s your personality, your purpose, and the secret sauce that makes you stand out from the crowd.
I’ve built two of my own brands from the ground up, and I know what it’s like to be in the thick of it; from ideas churning and chasing clarity, to making something out of nothing and finally, establishing and gaining ground.
The biggest lesson I've learnt?
A good strategy gets you 90% of the way there.
I’ve worked with businesses, non-profits, Government entities and community-led causes, and I bring those transferable skills to every project.
With experience on both sides of the media fence, I also know what gets noticed, and what doesn’t.
My Background
With nearly a decade in the media industry, I’ve worked across radio, print, TV and digital, from breaking newsrooms to strategic comms roles spanning Auckland to Christchurch.
I got my start in print journalism with Stuff and the Sunday Star-Times, then moved behind the mic for Newshub Radio and RadioLive. I later became Christchurch reporter and producer for The AM Show on Three and reported for Newshub Live at 6.
Looking for a new challenge (and a slower pace than the news cycle), I returned to my rural roots as Communications and Media Manager for New Zealand Young Farmers and the FMG Young Farmer of the Year competition.
After having my first baby, I went to Rural Exchange as set-up producer and digital content editor, turning it into an award-winning show, with multiple accolades from the New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators.
These days, I work independently as a strategic communications specialist, collaborating with clients across Aotearoa to deliver strategy, storytelling, and content that connects.
Freelancing gives me the freedom to work in rhythm with my family life and focus on the projects that matter most.
I hold a Bachelor of Communications from AUT.
